Women always seem to have hundreds of options to choose from when it comes to makeovers, but what about men? Well, that’s doubtful!




In a world where men’s grooming has long been an afterthought, one young artist named Sharath is making waves by challenging outdated norms and redefining what it means for men to look their best. At just 21 years old, this Chennai-based makeup artist is on a mission to revolutionize the industry, proving that men deserve just as much attention and detail in their grooming as women.


With a background in Visual Communication and early exposure to the world of cinema and advertisements as a child, his journey into makeup artistry was unconventional yet organic. His mother, a professional makeup artist, was his first teacher, and he spent a couple of years assisting her on shoots, absorbing the intricacies of the craft. However, it was the stark contrast between bridal makeup and groom styling that truly sparked his passion.


“I noticed how much effort went into making brides look stunning, while grooms were given barely 10 minutes for their entire look. There were no real choices, no creativity—it was just a rushed process. That’s when I realized something needed to change,” he says.

Determined to bridge this gap, he began practicing on himself, refining techniques that would elevate men’s grooming beyond the traditional rushed touch-ups. He saw that the industry lacked dedicated professionals for men, with most stylists and barbers providing only basic services that didn’t meet the evolving standards of modern grooms.


“When I started, I was the only one focusing on men’s grooming in my circle. But now, perspectives are changing. Men are finally willing to invest time in looking their best. The old mindset of getting ready in 10 minutes is fading away. Grooming isn’t just a luxury—it’s a necessity.”

The early days were tough—getting clients meant extensive explanations and persuasion. However, persistence paid off. He leveraged Instagram, consistently posting transformation videos with confidence, and soon, word-of-mouth referrals and customer feedback began driving his business.
