Girls in Town : Palakkad's First Ever Galentine's Day Function

Every girl feels the rush to explore life for its glam and glitz, which are pristinely celebrated around the world as the brand identity of modernity.

Little do people understand that in small towns, especially a town like Palakkad, where night wraps up around 8 pm, winding up work and reaching home is at 6 pm, unlike metropolitan cities where nightlife begins post 7 pm. Dreaming of being a part of nightlife and night parties is a far-fetched, wild, ambitious dream.



Just a day before Valentine’s Day, when most are planning to celebrate the symbolic 14th of February like usual, a group of two girls had this wild idea to celebrate Galentine's Day. Not for celebrating Singles Day, but they wanted to use a table they recently bought as an aesthetic prop. And, the solution was, why not celebrate Galentine’s Day at home? A simple and classic solution for all the Palakkad girls (small-town girls) to celebrate all those glam and glitz, socialite parties, and hanging out with friends they watch in the movies within the safety of home.

Gathering friends, eating food prepared by mothers, chatting for hours and hours through the night, and sometimes doing skincare and wearing a saree is a girl’s party. But does this ever whitewash that dream to go out and party? Celebrate a party!

No.

Will parents allow girls to go out to a night party?

No. Maybe not in 2015.

But in 2025, the time has changed, the small town, Palakkad saw its first Galentine’s Day party, exclusively for women.
