Yashasvi Jaiswal stood out as his team's backbone in the last U-19 Cricket World Cup. Also, a couple of years back, the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals purchased him for a whopping price of 2.4 crores. That's a huge success to achieve when you are not even in your twenties. It was not a cakewalk. The young man has an uplifting story to tell behind all his achievements.
It may be surprising to know that this lad once had a situation where he used to sell pani puri in the streets and struggled to find shelter. He is one among the six children in the Jaiswal family. The family's livelihood relied on a small hardware store run by his father, Bhupendra. Making his way to IPL from those hardships does contain an uplifting tale.
Yashasvi, who moved to Mumbai, had been told that the place is great for promoting young talents. But it was not easy for him to purchase the cricket gear, which was quite expensive. He worked at a dairy and lived in a chawl.
Luckily, all of this agony took a sudden turn when Jwala Singh, a renowned cricket coach in Mumbai, came into his life. The man was like a parent to Yashasvi. He put a roof over his head and even obtained his power of attorney. We can still hear him mentioning Jwala Singh as a man who changed his life apart. Then on, what Yashasvi mostly concentrated on was playing for Jwala sir to pay his eternal gratitude.
Jaiswal had a swashbuckling U-19 World cup, where he scored 400 runs at a remarkable
average of 133. Naturally, the man of the series award came in search of him. All his hard work paid off as Rajasthan Royals purchased him in the auction for a huge prize. He did not disappoint them either, as we did see the ravaging 50 from 21 balls he scored in the recent match against M. S. Dhoni's CSK.
Yashasvi Jaiswal might be a great option as an opener for India in the future. He is not even in his twenties, and he has the chance for the IPL emerging player award. It will not be late before he gets included as one of BCCI's choices.
