Kim Mi-so worked for Lee Young-joon as his secretary for nine long years, and finally, she decided to leave the job for good. She has finally paid off all the debts, and her family is in a good position now that she can finally take a chance to live the life that she wants. But her decision brings chaos in the life of the self-proclaimed perfect boss Lee Young–joon. The title What's Wrong with Secretary Kim itself stems from the question of why she wants to quit. The rest of the drama follows Young-joon's attempts to stop Mi–so from quitting and to make her stand by his side forever.

As they navigate the journey from colleagues to lovers, many secrets unfold. From the hatred between the two Lee brothers to the forgotten past and mistaken identity, a lot is revealed during the course of the drama. As the story unfolds, we learn that Young-joon is not as heartless as we first thought. He has many layers that he keeps hiding from the world, and we cannot help but fall in love with him and feel his pain. The entry of his brother Lee Sung–yeon, their apparent hatred for each other, and the love triangle between Mi–so, Young–joon and Sung–yeon adds spice to the story. As young–joon learn how to love someone, we learn why he is obsessed with Mi-so and reluctant to let her go.

It is a workplace drama, and it is cliche and cheesy at times, but it is a good watch. Their families and office workers, and the rest of the characters provide the necessary light-hearten humour and keep us engaged. The drama is considered one of the best Korean television drama series by many. Park Seo-joon, Park Min-young, and Lee Tae-hwan excel in their roles and make us fall in love with the characters and make it a must-watch.
