No: of Episodes: 16
Airs on: SBS TV and Netflix.
As the name suggests, "Our Beloved Summer" is a soft romantic comedy K-Drama directed by Kim Yoon-jin, which can give you summer vibes even during your winters.
The show is a heart stealer in all sense, but the highlights are the performance by the stellar cast like Choi Woo-shik, Kim Da-mi, Kim Sung-cheol, and RohJeong-eui, who play pivotal roles in the show.
The story revolves around two main characters, Choi Ung and Kook Yeon-Soo, played by Choi Woo-Shikand Kim Da-mi, respectfully. Choi Ung and Kook Yeon-Soo, are what we say the pole opposites. Yeon-Soo is studious and ambitious with a cold heart for socializing. Whereas Choi Ung is last in the class, an easy-go, lucky guy who has no particular ambition in life. He wishes for a simple life, in simple words, to lie under the shade of sunlight and sleep. Both of them have conflicting views on everything from studies to ideologies, which ultimately leads to the documentation of their teenage life for a month.
Ten years later, neither Yeon-Soo has changed nor Choi Ung. Both are adults now and successful in their respective jobs. They find it hard to accept their old documentary program has gone viral, and now they are being forced to document their current life for one month. Things are not smooth as the pole negatives are now ex-lovers; tension, awkwardness, and love still linger around them, and they try to run away from each other. But questions like: how did the poles attract each other? How did they break up? How are they facing each other? What is their true self? Why are they so lonely in life? All get answered if you watch this ongoing show.
The clumsy, sweet, eye smile of Choi Ung can make anyone smile, while Yeon-Soo's realistic performance of pain, exhaustion with life, and love will make you yearn for the character. The brilliance of acting performance by the supporting cast, the stunning cinematography, and soulful background scores altogether can brighten your rough days.
