23 rd April World Book Day and Copyright Day



Every year on 23 rd April the entire world gathers to celebrate the importance of Books and its impact on the living and the dead. It celebrates to commemorate the history we have been through and the intelligence that foresees a future for the generation.


  This day was recognized by UNESCO ( the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation), and its history dates back to 1995 when the team realized to importance to promote and uphold the importance of reading and writing globally and especially among the young minds.


  This day has more significance as it coincides with the anniversaries of several literary giants whose works continue to inspire readers and writers across generations like those of William Shakespeare who will cherished forever.


  Many events are held across countries and borders, promoting the joy of reading, the power of publishing and the importance of protecting intellectual property through copyright laws, and is a sought-after event in publishing industry.


Every year there is a theme and concept and for the World Book and Copyright Day 2025, the concept  is "The role of literature in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)", which highlights literature's pivotal role in driving progress towards the SDGs. It emphasises how literature can inspire action and awareness across key global issues such as poverty, hunger, inequality, and more.
